Nope! Once you sign up you just randomly generate maps till you find a starting point you like then start building. Or you can start with one of the premade dungeons and play right away!
How long is a piece of string? You could spend as long as you want prepping for a game but I can tell that I can put together a dungeon with Batlas a lot faster than I can with other tools. That's why I built it!
Of course! I still use top-down maps where they're appropriate. Batlas is here to make the option of isometric more accessible, not to be the only option. There's no functionality in Batlas for top-down though as there's plenty of tools out there that do that already.
You can, and you should! Batlas is a tool to let people make their own maps without the long process of drawing an isometric map. If you find an artist rendered isometric dungeon please use it. All I want from Batlas is to get people experimenting and having fun with the isometric perspective.
